Harald Fetveit started to play noise in the mid-eighties. He has developed a characteristic, forward-leaning sound, often full of ruptures and rapid dynamic changes. As a musician, his focus has always been on live performance. He has played at festivals like All Ears, Cable, Noise and Fury and has toured in Europe, Japan, South Korea, South East Asia and Russia.

He has had a long running collaboration with Agnes Hvizdalek performed with people like Junko Hiroshige, Hankil Ryu, Mattin, Lucio Capece, John Hegre and Anla Courtis, as well as Thomas Oxem in their duo SKÆVV and Dario Fariello in their duo Sciardac.

He is educated in visual arts, from the art academies in Bergen, Trondheim, Oslo and Vienna, and has worked with site specific installations and photography. He also has a background from performance art, with a.o. Baktruppen, and today has occasional involvements in contemporary dance.

Some of his work naturally revolves around making the experiences from the different fields of arts function together. For example in making sound installations for body movement or temporary sound laboratories for deaf people.

In 2022 and 2023, he ran two rounds of breakfast concerts, with black coffee, porridge and harsh noise at Kafé Hærverk in Oslo. He played and served food and beverages every single morning throughout the whole month at 8 o’clock during the weeks and at 10 o’clock in the week-ends. 78 gigs alltogether when extra concerts for late comers are included.

Since 2003, he has been running Dans for Voksne, a series for experimental concerts and related activities, and has played a major role in the development of Oslo’s experimental music scene through organizing more than 400 gigs and workshops.

Since 2013 he has organized and played in the musician collective DNA?AND?, where most of the members are young people with Down Syndrome. DNA?AND? has performed at Le Guess Who and Sonic Protest as well as Norwegian festivals All Ears and Blow Out, and have worked with NU Unruh, Hans Magnus Ryan, Hamid Drake and many more. (2024)
