Jaanis Garancs
Born 1973 in Latvia. He studied classical music during his elementary school in Riga, and also received deepened classical art education in secondary (high) school. Afterwards he studied painting at the Latvian Academy of Arts (1992-1995), combining painting, video and computer experiments. During 1995-1999 concentrated on video, computer 3D animation at the Royal Art College-University (KKH/Mejan) in Stockholm, then later at Hamburg Academy of Arts (HfbK) visual communication dept., (1999/2000), while in Hamburg, working also on several Internet group projects and consultancy. In 2000 entered Media Arts Department at KHM, Cologne. Since that time the attention shifted more towards Virtual Reality as live multimedia performance environment. He is a co-founder of the creative team of the E-Lab/RIXC (since 1996).
