Longva kunstnarresidens (LK) is a "residency/art arena in development, where social and architectural processes influence and shape each other. A large boathouse from 2009 will be converted into social and work spaces with various purposes. We are working to create an interdisciplinary, international art arena with the possibility of work stays for professional artists, curators, writers and others with an active relationship with the contemporary art field. We envision a platform for artistic and interdisciplinary dialogue, which can strengthen the artistic infrastructure and expertise in the region, tempt a professional national and international environment to come for work stays to the Northern Islands, and thereby gain self-confidence, and provide the region with new impulses. We strive for a strong professional profile and at the same time a good local anchoring – we hope to be able to make a difference in society.

Longva kunstnarresidens was founded on a farm on Skuløy/Flemsøy in Møre og Romsdal, Norway, in February 2020. Three artists and two local people from the island were involved. As a project, it is an artist-initiated initiative, driven forward through the artistic practice and interests of those involved. LK is organized as an association with a board of artists and local people with different expertise. The board consists of artists Terese Longva, Hild Borchgrevink and Sabine Popp, together with Stine Roald who lives on Valderøya, and accountant Veronica Norvoll Longva who lives on the neighboring island of Haramsøy. The artist Lillian Karin Bjørdal from Ålesund is our representative." (2025)
