Louis Marin (22 May 1931, La Tronche, France – 29 October 1992, Paris) was a French philosopher, historian, semiotician and art critic. He is usually referred to as a French post-structuralistic thinker. Throughout his career, Marin's main intellectual focus was seventeenth-century French literature and art, particularly the works of Blaise Pascal, Perrault, Nicolas Poussin and Philippe de Champaigne. His books include Utopics: Spatial Play (Macmillan, 1984) and Portrait of the King (University of Minnesota Press, 1988).
