Mehmet Can Özer. Born 1981. Started his music education at the age of nine. During high school years he played with jazz and rock bands as a keyboard player. After graduating from high school, he was accepted to Bilkent University, Department of Theory and Composition with full scholarship [1998]. The same year he won first price Halici-Midi Composition Competition. During his undergraduate, he composed several solo, instrumental writing; he was interested in electroacoustic music and realized many works. In 2003, he was awarded 30. Bourges International Electroacoustic Music Competition. After graduating from Bilkent University, he was accepted to the Conservatoire de Genève and later Zurich HMT [2004]. Since 1998 he’s working as a freelance sound engineer, arranger and composer for multimedia applications. In addition he composed music for theater and short films. His works are being performed domestically and in Europe and accepts invitations from festivals. Mehmet Can Özer is a lecturer in Baskent University and he’s also an active conductor, giving concerts in Turkey. Lives in Ankara.
