Petr Rezek
Petr Rezek (9 January 1948, Prague - 8 November 2022) was a Czech philosopher and art theorist. He studied psychology, philosophy and aesthetics at Charles University, then worked for several years as a clinical psychologist; between 1979 and 1989 in manual jobs. Since his studies he collaborated with the philosopher Jiří Němec, in the mid-1970s he was in close contact with Jan Patočka and Jindřich Chalupecký. In the 1980s he organized private philosophical seminars in cooperation with the British Jan Hus Association. After 1989 he worked at the Academy of Fine Arts in Prague and the Faculty of Arts of Charles University, later at the Faculty of Arts and Architecture at the Technical University in Liberec.
In the 1970s he focused on phenomenological psychology and phenomenology of art (influence of E. Husserl, Heidegger, E. Fink, M. Boss, H. Rombach); in the 1980s intensive studies of ancient philosophy (Plato, Aristotle, Plotinos). He is widely known for his criticism of philosopher Zdeněk Neubauer and Václav Havel. After 1989 he established the PomFil edition (Assistant philosopher) in the publishing house Oikúmené. He was the editor of the magazine Konzerva/Na hudbu and founded his own publishing house. Since 2004 are published his texts under title Collected Works. In 2010 was awared by the Tom Stoppard Prize for his book The Architecture and Protoarchitecture.
