Petra Štefanková
Petra Štefanková FRSA (1978) is a Slovak illustrator, digital artist, filmmaker, designer, painter and author. She has worked in the fine arts, animation, advertising and publishing industries with an emphasis on an interdisciplinary approach. Her work represents the fusion of contemporary art and design.
She became internationally recognised for her series of 3D computer graphics imagery called Yet Another Face, which won Channel 4's 4Talent Award in the United Kingdom in 2007 and has been published and exhibited all around the world, including the Association for Computer Machinery's conference proceedings in the USA. A lecture featuring her 3D digital artworks and entitled Psychic Automatism in 3D Digital Art was delivered during the SIGGRAPH Graphite conference at the University of Western Australia in Perth in 2007. The lecture emphasised the need for authenticity in digital art. The solo show Yet Another Face was held at Lite-Haus Galerie in Berlin in August 2016. The series blends contemporary art, illustration and digital graphics.
These 3D digital artworks have been published by 4Talent Magazine, Aesthetica, Computer Arts, Xfuns Taiwan, Creative Review, Artbox Magazine and featured in the book Drawing Inspiration - Visual Artist at Work by Michael Fleishman. The style was further self-published in the author's children's book My Small Sea (original title: Moje malé more).
Since her studies at the Academy of Fine Arts and Design in Bratislava, she has also produced short animations, video art and films, including A Letter from Prague, Animated Paintings and Humanity.
