Differentiation of mimêsis according to "in which" ("in what", heterois mimeisthai), "what" ("on what", hetera), and "how" (heterós), translated variously as the means employed (matter, medium), the objects 'mimetised' (subject) and the manner in which the mimesis is effected (mode, method).
