The Shift electronic arts festival was founded in November 2006 and governed by an association comprised of four Basel organizations active in the fields of film, video, media art, and electronic music. Specifically: plug.in art and new media; sinus series, platform for electronic music; the videofilmtage Basel and the DVD magazine compiler.
The first edition of Shift was held Oct. 25th till Oct. 28th 2007 in the Dreispitz, a zone of urban development in the city of Basel. The festival was held annually until 2011.
