François Laruelle
François Laruelle (born: 22 August 1937) is a French Non-philosopher, notable for developing a Science of Philosophy (not to be mistaken for a Philosophy of Science) initially called Non-philosophy (the "Non-" as in "Non-Euclidean Geometry") but currently better known as "Non-standard Philosophy" (as in "Non-standard Analysis") or, even more recently, "Forced Philosophy" (from Paul J. Cohen's mathematical method of Forcing but devoid of its Mathematical Sufficiency).
Non-standard Philosophy operates in an infinity of phases: identical-in-essence and radical-in-One from different sources of philosophical material[-without-materialism] as occasional (necessary and insufficient) causes.
Laruelle proposes a classification of his oeuvre into 5 Phases:
- Philosophy I: Standard Philosophical Texts
- Philosophy II-IV: Non-Philosophy
- Philosophy V: Non-standard Philosophy | Philo-Fiction | Art-Fiction | Science-Fiction | Forced Philosophy
Implicitly and explicitly, there is a movement from vague corpuscles to ondulatory particles, from learned ignorance to unlearned knowledge, from Body without Organs to Organon-without-Corpuscularity, from Textual Deconstruction to Generic Deconstruction, from Historical Materialism to Material Futurality, ..., from the Mundane (of-, for-, and in- the-world) to the Generic. These movements should not be interpreted as motions of reversal (or "reading against the grain") but as de-potentiations of Philosophy through mutation and suppression of its axioms, rendering the-philosophy and the-world complete, even if not yet closed.
The axioms of Non-standard Philosophy ("Oraxioms", elucidated in the Essence/Identity/Conjugation/Superposition of the Axiom and its Object via Stranger-subjects or Points of Exteriority) are Philosophically and Mathematically uninterpretable despite the use of Philosophical and Mathematical means since they are devoid of their [Principles of] Sufficiency as Philosophemes-without-Philosophy and Mathemes-without-Mathematics: gener[ic]ally, Themes-without-Theses.
