Excavating the Future
Mediensymposion: Excavating the Future: An Archeology and Future of Moving Pictures was a gathering of artists, scientists, historians, and futurologists held from 2-5 December 2001 at Goethe-Institut in Prague. The symposium continued the tradition of the Flusser Media symposium series organised by Goethe Institute Prague between 1992 and 1997.
The concept was initiated by art historian and curator Jaroslav Anděl who approached the director of SCCA Ludvík Hlaváček. Consequently it was discussed with the director of Goethe Institut and realised in collaboration with Miloš Vojtěchovský, Michael de la Fontaine, cultural director of Goethe Institut, and Michael Bielický from the Academy of Fine Arts in Prague.
