From the press release (1985):

"Au Centre Georges Pompidou, le Cci cherche à mettre en scène ce qui change. On dirait que les changements, comme toujours, nous viennent du dehors. Par les conditions de travail, par le milieu de la vie quotidienne, par les moyens d’information. Quelle différence, dit-on, avec la vie de nos pères ! Mais c’est dans nos têtes que ça change : façons de sentir, de regarder, d’entendre, le langage, l’intimité du corps, etc. « Les Immatériaux » est une sorte de dramaturgie posée entre l’achèvement d’une période et l’inquiétude d’une époque naissante à l’aube de la postmodernité, et en ce sens, relève d’un projet tant philosophique qu’artistique. Elle cherche à éveiller une sensibilité déjà là, à faire sentir l’étrange dans le familier, et combien il est difficile de se faire une idée de ce qui change. Un tourbillon de chemins arrêté où vous tracerez le vôtre : sites de biogénétique et d’arts plastiques, d’architecture et d’astrophysique, de musique et d’alimentation, de physique et d’habillement, un labyrinthe de machines de langages, l’habitat et la photographie, l’industrie et le droit. Des kilomètres de câblage invisible. Et nos questions : la réalité, le matériau, les matériels, les matrices du sens, et qui en est l’auteur ?" [1]
