Fred Botting, Scott Wilson (eds.): The Bataille Reader (1997)

25 October 2012, dusan

Since the publication in France of his Oeuvres Completes in the mid-1970s, the breadth of Bataille’s writing and influence has become increasingly apparent across the disciplines in, for example, the fields of literature, art, art history, philosophy, critical theory, sociology, economics, and anthropology.

Thanks to a recent ‘Wire’ article I have just discovered this FANTASTIC educational resource and am ecstatic to be able to dig deep into so many references I may never have come across (in any form) otherwise :D

Serendipitously, I am reading John Brackett’s book on John Zorn and there I was struggling with context for the Bataille ‘transgression’ references when lo and behold this reader is posted!

Thank you for all your hard work to provide a resource for these subjects so often neglected be more market-driven sources and the fine job of selection and categorization…it is much appreciated here ;-)
