Cultural Anthropology has published many articles that present and analyze situations where people create and interact with networks that facilitate flows of value. Rather than considering infrastructure to be something with static effects, anthropological approaches to the study of infrastructure look for its construction and maintenance through everyday practices in particular ethnographic contexts. Here we have brought together six articles published in CA that have contributed to the emergent anthropology of infrastructure. […]

To enrich our understanding of the selected articles, authors Nikhil Anand, Julia Elyachar, Daniel Mains, Jonathan Bach, and Filip De Boeck have offered new commentary on their works. Additionally, AbdouMaliq Simone, a scholar whose study of “people as infrastructure” has led the way in this emergent area of inquiry, composed an essay reflecting on this collection.” (from the Introduction)

An anthology of nine essays to accompany the event cycle Ekologie miejskie [City Ecologies] at Museum Sztuki in Łódź, Poland.

“Ekologie to antologia przekładów dopełniająca cykl „Ekologie miejskie”, na który składają się przedsięwzięcia artystyczne, akcje społeczne i konferencje naukowe. Cykl poszukuje istoty relacji zachodzących we współczesnym mieście w ramach sieci zależności łączącej mieszkanki i mieszkańców, świat sztuki oraz środowisko.

„Lista problemów, które przy pomocy prezentowanych tekstów postanowili postawić i naświetlić redaktorzy jest długa i stosunkowo rzadko przewijająca się przez dominujący nurt polskiej refleksji humanistycznej” – zauważa Jan Sowa w recenzji antologii. Ambicją udostępnionej bezpłatnie w internecie publikacji jest upowszechnienie wiedzy o zagadnieniach takich jak krytyka antropocentryzmu i szowinizmu gatunkowego w naukach społecznych i sztuce, podjęcie wyzwań związanych z nadejściem epoki antropocenu, czy też potencjał drzemiący w politycznych, antyhierarchicznych działaniach artystycznych.

W antologii znalazły się teksty osobowości świata sztuki, nauki i nowej humanistyki, takich jak: Neil Smith, Erik Swyngedouw i Nikolas C. Heynen, Isabelle Stengers, Bruno Latour, Jill Bennett a także wywiad z Donną Haraway oraz teksty pt. „Produkcja transgeniczna i opór kulturowy: plan w siedmiu punktach” (Critical Art Ensemble) i „Manifest miejskiego kanibalizmu” (Wietske Maas, Matteo Pasquinelli).”
