Published by Dick Higgins’ own seminal Something Else Press, Fantastic Architecture is an adaptation of the German book Pop Architektur (Droste Verlag, Düsseldorf, 1969) and features artists involved in Fluxus, pop and conceptual art movements addressing the field of architecture through collages, captions and mini-manifestos.

Umbrella was a newsletter-magazine edited and published by Judith A. Hoffberg from 1978 until 2008. In her work, Hoffberg enthusiastically championed Fluxus, inexpensive artists’ books, mail art, rubber-stamp art, and many other offbeat forms of expression of the second half of the 20th century all of which found their way into Umbrella in the form of interviews, news and reviews.
Géza Perneczky credits Umbrella as “perhaps the most comprehensive and most usable unofficial source of information” on mail art and artists’ publications during the period from 1978 to 1984. (in The Magazine Network, 1993: 12)

In The Assault on Culture, Stewart Home outlines the subterranean history of mid-to-late 20th century avant-gardes in which artistic and political vanguardism emerge as indissociable. In a comprehensive overview of relatively marginal movements—such as lettrism, situationism, and punk—Home analyzes these radical practices and experiences, which, due to their involvement in alternative forms of sociability as well as their relational, process-oriented, and political character, have remained at the margins of dominant art historiography.
